Although the plumbing industry as a whole is slow to adopt new technologies and methods there are some forward thinking companies, like Northridge Plumber, that realize the importance of saving their clients both money and time. They are also fully aware of the fact that some of the old school methods not only cost significantly more money and take considerably more time to complete, but actually cause a tremendous amount of damage to the property. Take the traditional excavation method of sewer repair for example.

The process begins with the excavation of a trench that runs along the entire length of the sewer pipeline, which in some cases can be hundreds of feet long. The trench is dug in order to physically expose the pipes for repair or replacement. Since the sewer pipeline is typically buried under your lawn, trees, flowers, shrubs, mulch beds, driveway, walkway, patio, sidewalk, or parking lot it destroys any of the landscaping and or hardscaping in its path. Once the work is complete the trench is filled back in with dirt and the plumbing company moves on to their next job.

They are not responsible for replacing any of the landscaping and or hardscaping that was ruined in the sewer pipeline repair or replacement process. In addition, it can take multiple weeks to complete the work by the time the trench is excavated, the sewer repair work is performed, and the trench is filled back in. It takes even longer for additional contractors to replace the landscaping and hardscaping. Fortunately trenchless sewer repair techniques were invented about fifteen years ago. If the sewer pipes are in decent shape than the trenchless pipe lining procedure can be used to fix the broken pipes.

It only requires a small access point at one end of the sewer pipeline. A high-tech machine uses the access point to install a specially formulated wet epoxy resin material onto the interior surfaces of the existing sewer pipes. The epoxy resin cures in place within a few hours to form a solid pipe linen otherwise known as a pipe within a pipe. The new liner fixes any existing problems, prevents future issues from occurring, and will last for at least fifty years.

The entire procedure takes as little as one day to complete from start to finish, and costs just about half the price of the traditional excavation method. If the sewer pipes are severely damaged than the trenchless pipe bursting procedure is used to replace the broken pipes. It requires two small access points, one at each end of the sewer pipeline. A different high-tech machine uses the access points to install a one-piece, plastic PVC pipe into the existing sewer pipes.

As the new pipe is being pushed, pulled, or blown through the line it burst the old sewer pipes into a bunch of fragmented pieces that are naturally disbursed into the ground where they are left to rot. The new plastic sewer pipeline completely replaces the old one, and will last for well over one hundred years. The entire procedure takes as little as one day to complete from start to finish, and costs significantly less than the traditional excavation method.
